Sonoma Coast
Encompassing about 2,000 vineyard acres, the Sonoma Coast AVA stretches from the northern coastline of Sonoma County in the west, slightly overlapping the coolest sections of the Russian River Valley, to the rolling hills of former dairy land in the southern reaches of the county. The appellation is defined by direct daily influence from the Pacific, with the vineyards of the northern reach planted on high ridge lines just a few miles from the ocean.
Hear From Our Winemaker
James MacPhail selects vineyard parcels in the Sonoma Coast AVA that will enable him to make wines of exceptional balance. Most of the grapes at the heart of our Sonoma Coast Chardonnay benefit from cooling coastal fog that enhances their natural acidity, and James also seeks out a small collection of warmer vineyard parcels planted above the fog line that will contribute the wine’s delicate tropical fruit notes.
